Title: Mannequin Loom
Year: 2015
Material: cardboard, cotton tape yarn, pins
Mannequin Loom reconsiders the relationship between weaving, garment construction, and the tools used to produce them. A traditional mannequin is reconfigured into a functional loom, allowing garments to be woven directly onto the body so that textile creation and clothing construction occur simultaneously.
The work proposes an integrated approach in which form emerges through weaving itself, collapsing multiple stages of production into a single process. By questioning inherited hierarchies between textile and fashion, the project explores efficiency, authorship, and the potential for low-waste manufacturing through tool innovation.
