Title: Suspension
Date: 2026
Material: Nylon monofilament warp, TPE weft
Suspension is composed of twelve interlaced layers of transparent nylon, exploring fragility and transformation through tension between structure and release. The work incorporates a three-dimensional ikat technique developed by the artist, translating a traditionally surface-based dye process into spatial form. Resist-dyed threads are mapped and woven to create an internal image that emerges as the sculpture expands after removal from the loom, revealing volume, selvedges, and shifting transparency.
At its center, a luminous orange sphere hovers within the layered construction, simultaneously protected and exposed. Resting on a surface, the sculpture invites slow movement around it, where perception shifts with light, depth, and shadow. The work reflects a delicate balance between what is visible and what remains just beyond reach.
